I have learned that adjusting color temperature may create subtle value change. In this painting, the left part of brown pot and the green gray background have almost same value, but the warmer color makes the pot look darker. Is it true or I am simply hallucinating? Maybe both.

I would agree, I think it looks darker than the background. What happens when you view the photo in black and white, are they the same?

The brown cup is the star though it may not be the main focus. It has come out so well. Greatw ork agaian.
